How do you tell if you have too much makeup? Well let’s see….how about when you find a beautiful Dolce & Gabanna eye shadow quad you FORGOT you had a year after you purchased it because it got LOST in your stash? Yep, that would be it.
Fabulous is truly ideal for a spring/summer look and I am really grateful I found it. So grateful, Fabulous has made it to Prime Beauty All Star status. There is a shimmery mint green, a shimmery dirty pink, a smoky grey with slight blue undertones and a rich matte brown. This may seem like an unlikely mix but actually these shades play very nicely together–you can create a soft pretty look or turn up the volume and create a sexy smoky eye with nontraditional shades.
All the shadows are finely milled, creamy smooth and blend beautifully. The shimmer is subtle enough to please any over 40 women–it doesn’t cross into frosty territory.
Packaging is a stunning mirrored gold compact. The presentation is worthy of a high-end brand with a velvet pouch inside the box. I love the look of metallic compacts but do be aware that they collect fingerprints.
For this simple soft summer look I used the pink under the brow bone, the mint green on the lid, the grey in the crease and outer third of the eye with the deep brown as a liner. The mint green shade really is a beautiful color, it reminds me of mint chocolate chip ice cream and lazy summer days. It’s also right on trend and very feminine.
Dolce and Gabanna Fabulous is part of the permanent line (yay), retails for $59 and is available now at Saks Dolce & Gabbana counters and online.
Bottom Line: a unique combination of shades with exceptional quality and packaged beautifully. These shades mix warm and cool, soft and sexy for a myriad of eye looks. I will definitely take a look at other D&G shadows.
And speaking of Dolce and Gabanna, have you seen the new Monica 2013 Summer Collection? D&G newest collection features their muse, Italian actress Monica Bellucci from The Brothers Grimm, Bram Stoker’s Dracula and The Passion of the Christ. What a beauty!
The “True Monica” collection has just arrived in stores. Included in the collection are three luxury lipstick shades, three lip liners, eyeshadow quads, khol eyeliners, and nail polishes.
“Monica’s signature look works on many skin tones,” says celebrity makeup artist Pat McGrath. “Use the khol pencil first, smudge and then apply the shadows to enhance the eye. To get the lips looking extra full, fill them in with lipliner first and then apply lipstick. ‘Nude Monica’ suits darker skin, while pink-based ‘Gentle Monica’ suits porcelain skintones.”
