Day Two- Besame

Besame Cosmetics is a gem in the cosmetics industry. It’s a small independently owned company that still makes their products by hand! Owner Gabriela Hernandez, is a devotee of the old Hollywood glamour of the 30′s and it shows in the beautiful packaging of the Besame product line.

Best known for their classic red lipsticks, Besame also offers the Voluptuous Lip Colour Set which includes a lipstick in a gorgeous tube, a matching automatic lip pencil, an ergonomically designed lip brush and a velvet travel sleeve for $35.  Besame Classic Enchanting Lipsticks are available in 10 shades and are packaged in a lovely gold case with a red velvet pouch for $15. Other items in the product line are Classic Glazes in 5 shades, Vintage Boudoir Rouge in 3 shades, Masterliner eyeliner pencils, Vintage Alluring Eye Shadows and Cashmere Powder Compact in 3 shades. If you like your cosmetics housed in Old World Glamour packaging, check out this line! www.besamecosmetics.com

Besame Red Velvet is the only red lipstick I own. I have a bit of an aversion a certain reluctance when it comes to red lipsticks. Okay, I fess up, I’m scared. I feel I stand out too much (which I know is supposed to be the idea) and it’s too much to fuss with. Fear aside, I keep my Besame Red Velvet at the ready for when I feel like I need some attention. Red Velvet is a warm, vibrant, and highly wearable shade with a satin finish. Not matte, but certainly not glossy and highly, highly pigmented, it is not for the faint of heart.  It is part of Besame’s Classic Enchanting Lipsticks. Owner Gabriela Hernandez says “This is the one that started it all for me. Most describe it as petite, but this 55mm size gold bullet packaging is reminiscent of the decorative cases used during the post-war 1940’s when metal was in big demand for the war. And yes it looks very similar to a bullet. Inspired by several original 1940′s containers from my collection this was the first product I designed when I started Besame.”

Besame Cosmetics can be purchased at select boutiques and at besamecosmetics.com.

I didn’t realize companies still made cosmetics by hand. Are they expensive?

    HI Jessie,
I believe the lipsticks are $15. They are smaller than a normal lipstick but worth it!
