For Spring 2012, Chanel released an Asia-exclusive collection, Le Blanc de Chanel. The blush from this collection, Fleur de Lotus, quickly became a cult favorite among Asian bloggers. Thankfully, Nordstrom brought the collection to the US for their anniversary sale. My must-have, to-die-for piece from the collection is indeed, Fleur de Lotus Joues Contraste Blush ($43).
Fleur de Lotus is a bright coral in the pan but translates on the skin as a universally flattering pinky peach color, an ideal everyday shade that will complement any makeup look. The baked formula is soft, smooth and very finely milled with subtle shimmer. The result is a luminous, satiny sheen that melts into the skin imparting a “lit from within” glow. This formula is idyllic for us over 40 women to get our glow back without looking “powdered.”
Coral and pinky-peach blushes are my Holy Grail shades so I dipped into my stash to see if I had anything similar to Fleur de Lotus. Chanel Espigel is definitely more orange, Le Metier de Beaute Echo is a true coral (another dazzling blush) and BECCA Flowerchild is the closest match, although it has more pink than Fleur de Lotus.
Fleur de Lotus is a beautiful ultra-flattering blush that is absolutely spectacular. A must-have for all skin tones. It does have the signature Chanel rose scent so if you are sensitive to fragrance, you might want to test a few at the counter first. I haven’t been this pleased with a blush in a VERY long time!
The collection also includes:
Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Palette ($58.00) - From classic ivory to rich brown, the shades of the essential eyeshadow compact offer unlimited looks of elegance. The smudge-proof, dermatologist-tested formula can be applied dry for subtle shading or dampened for more intense color, with long-wearing results even in extreme climates. To me, it seems I’ve seen this same palette from Chanel in some variation or another a LOT, so I skipped it.
- Rives Copper, white, brown, brown-plum
Illusion d’Ombre Riviere Eyeshadow ($36.00) - Add a brilliant shimmer to eyes with an intensely luminous eyeshadow. The innovative, long-wear gel formula can also be worn as a versatile eyeliner. It also includes a unique brush for seamless application. An interesting shade, it applied as a straight very sparkly silver when I swatched it so I skipped this too.
- Riviere Pale silver green
Aqualumiere Gloss ($27.00) - The freshness of the lotus flower inspires a joyful touch of beauty. The water-light finish of a delicately sheer gloss now comes in Alize, a natural nude shade perfect for a refreshing kiss of color on its own, or as a finishing touch for lipstick. Roselin, a sweet pink shade can be worn alone or atop lipstick for added shine.
- Alize Beige gold
- Roselin Soft pink – a lovely color I just prefer the Glossimer formula to the Aqualumiere.
Stylo Yeux / Waterproof Eyeliner ($30.00) designed to be used on the waterline to brighten the eyes.
- Beige Claire Beige nude
This a lovely collection, available now exclusively at Nordstrom for the Anniversary sale (ends August 6). Go take a look! What is your fav piece from the collection?
