I first became aware of the Camille Beckman brand of hand creams several years ago when a local gift shop carried the line. I loved the hand cream but what I didn’t know was that the dainty rosebuds that adorn the jars are hand-tied by single mothers in the community who work as contractors for the brand. Having been a single mother myself, I can really get behind a brand that supports the people in their community, bravo! Sadly, the gift shop I frequented for my hand cream fix closed quite a few years ago. I’m so glad I was able to get reacquainted with Camille Beckman!
The line has really expanded since I last saw it in stores, there are now 25–yes, 25 varieties of hand cream! My favorites are Midnight Monarch and Peaceful Olive. I keep a tube of Peaceful Olive Restore at work where I wash my hands often and the extra protective ingredients like CoQ10, and vitamins keep my hands (and cuticles) soft, smooth and dare I say looking a bit younger!
Midnight Monarch is a joy to ‘wear.’ The Silky Body Lotion lives up to it’s name–very silky with no greasy residue. It’s a enchanting scent featuring–
- Top Notes: Jasmine Tea & Bergamot
- Heart Notes: Orange Orchid Nectar & Damask Rose
- Base Notes: Midnight Patchouli & Vanilla Amber
I wish I was more of a fragrance expert so I could give you a flowery description but all I can really tell you is that is smells really, really good. There is a famous bath & body/fragrance/skincare company that starts with a P(and rhymes with Billosophy) who’s most popular fragrance is described as a non-fragrance: meaning–fresh, clean and feminine. The marketing staff at P claim you will compliments like “you smell so good” instead of “I like your perfume.” This is exactly how I feel about Midnight Monarch! In fact, and this a bit embarrassing to admit, but after using Midnight Monarch Silky Body Lotion and Glycerin Hand Therapy over the weekend I ran around doing errands most of the day. When I was at Target buying allergy medicine, I thought “something smells good in this aisle,” then at Macy’s, although I was in the shoe department, the smell was so appealing I thought I must be smelling the candles from the gift department next door. Finally after unloading my groceries, I actually sniffed the empty bags to see what the heck smelled so good–and that’s when it hit me. It was me! Duh!! Midnight Monarch just smells good–not overpowering, not cloying, not spicy, not too sweet, just pleasant and leaves you wanting more.
Oh and did I mention that all of Camille Beckman products are handmade in the USA in small batches? The Glycerin Hand Therapy creams are sold in 1.35oz tubes and retail for $4.95! I’m gifting all my 20 co-workers with a tube of Camille Beckman Glycerin Hand Therapy, but shhhhh–don’t spill the beans!
Definitely worth mentioning is Camille Beckman’s commitment to philanthropy. The brand has given millions back to the community directly through the “Camille Beckman Foundation”. Even in the midst of this difficult economy, the CB Foundation is making the world a better place by contributing back to the community at the local, national and international level. They also contribute to 35 charitable organizations, including supporting a school in Vietnam and helping to educate young women in Pakistan and Afghanistan. A company that gives back AND has great handmade products=WIN!
