Buxom True Hue Blush: I Think I Love Hue

When I laid eyes on the new Buxom True Hue Blush, the Partridge Family immediately came to mind. Let me explain my bizarre thought process. My first thought was “I think love this blush” which then led me to think of my high school crush…don’t laugh….David Cassidy. I LOVED the Partridge Family and watched the show religously. “Keith” was so cute and funny and in a BAND! So okay, it was a band with his Mother in it, but still!  The fact that people were constantly comparing me to “Laurie” Susan Dey only made my crush worse. Laurie and I were both painfully tall, thin and had long brown hair parted in the middle. The resemblance ended there–Susan had a cute button nose, I had a strong Roman one. Then Susan had the whole model/TVstar thing going for her and I had…braces…and an unrequited love for David Cassidy!!!

So, when I opened Buxom True Hue in Rendezvous, David Cassidy’s voice rang in head…..

I think I love you.
So what am I so afraid of?
I’m afraid that I’m not sure of
A love there is no cure for (and I will need all 8 shaaaades).

I think I love you.
Isn’t that what life is made of?
Though it worries me to say
That I’ve never felt this way (about a bluuuuush).

I don’t know what I’m up against.
I don’t know what it’s all about.
I got so much to think about.
Hey, I think I love you.
So what am I so afraid of?
I’m afraid that I’m not sure of
A love there is no cure for.
 I think I love you.
I think I love you.
I think I love you.
I think I love you.
I think I love you.

True Hue blush is the first ever complexion invention from Buxom as well as the first pressed blush offering from parent company bareMinerals. There are 8 shades in the collection and they will be sold exclusively at Sephora (in February) and sephora.com (now).

  • Breathless – soft pink peach
  • Euphoria – bright coral
  • Luvitate – shimmery nude
  • Rendezvous – bright shimmery raspberry w/gold highlights
  • Shangri-La-La – dusty plum
  • Seduction – hot pink
  • Swept Away – soft peach
  • Tryst – warm shimmery nude/brown

True Hue blushes are silky smooth, highly pigmented and formulated with rhodiola, an artic plant root that is supposed to make cheeks appear refreshed. The brightest of these, Rendezvous is so pigmented that I had to apply with a light hand even using a duo fiber brush. It’s probably my favorite of the three–it’s such a beautiful berry shade and the subtle gold really brings a brightness and luminosity to the face.

Buxom True Hue Blush-Rendezvous

Buxom Luvitate blush

Buxom Shangri-La-La

I’m wearing Luvitate today and it’s not nearly as sparkly as it apprears when swatched. I’m quite happy with the peachiness radiating from my cheeks!  These blushes are so vibrant, perfect for the pop of color you need to perk up that winter complexion. The texture and wear time is excellent!

Packaging: black plastic compact with a full size mirror. I like that these stay closed but aren’t hard to re-open

Quality: terrific quality, they are comparable to NARS in my opinion. These are so finely milled they almost feel like a cream rather than a powder.

Value: True Hue retail for $24 which is about average for a high quality blush. NARS blushes have gone to up $27

Overall: I highly recommend you check these blushes out at your nearest Sephora. Make sure to test them–they are very pigmented! I can definitley see these as a Prime Beauty All Star! While I still think I love Buxom True Hue blushes, I no longer think I love David Cassidy. Sorry guy you had your chance.

Prime Beauty Grade: A+

  • These are really pretty! I love how you went to that song. Very cute! Propose it to the company as a jingle? 😉

  • You really drew my attention with your review and then I saw those pictures! Wow. Rendevous has “Marcia” written all over it!

  • Gf and I actually met David Cassidy @ a promotional event in Waikiki. Don’t remember what store it was for, but it was full of PR types. I’ve just remembered Mr. Blackwell was there, too! Rendezvous is really pretty!

Be still my 14 yr old heart!!!!

  • Karen

I love those blushes, great colors. Sorry about David Cassidy! Have you seen him lately….he needs some of your product….looks like a corpse! You were too good for him anyway!

  • These are gorgeous! I need to go check them out!

  • Luvitate is just calling my name, but all three look beautiful!

  • Mamavalveeta03

His poster used to be on my wall, above my bed so I could kiss him goodnight! lol…Thanks for the memories!

  • Julie B

I remember those days fondly, though I preferred Donny Osmond to David. And then there was Shaun Cassidy; remember him? It’s interesting now to read memoirs of teen idols now and find out all the naughty things they were up to behind the scenes.

  • I liked Shaun Cassidy; although David is/was a great singer. Haven’t heard him in a long time! LOL! x Thank you for the swatches, they’re really helpful!! x

LOL- your lyrics! THAT is what Buxom’s ads should be!
I, too had a huge crush on David Cassidy! He was SO dreamy…

The intensity of these colors reminds me of the new Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes- which leads me to a question- how’s the wear on these?

    • cindy

The wear is good. It’s a toss up between the Buxom blushes and the Tarte Amazonian Clay. True Hue’s texture is softer than the Tarte. They are both really pigmented and long lasting. both have shimmery and matte choices. It’s really personal preference–the Buxom True Hue blushes have a slight edge for me b/c of the gorgeous shades.

  • Absolutely gorgeous!!!! I have to check these out 🙂
