While butterLONDON’s Molly Coddled is not a new shade (it’s from the Spring 2013 Sweetie Shop Collection), it IS the quintessential Pantone Color of the Year shade, Radiant Orchid. This is the exact color I imagine orchid to be; a lavender shade with a distinct pink undertone. The shade is much softer than you might expect and such a lovely color for spring.
In the bottle, Molly Coddled looks like a cool lavender/orchid but it manages to suit my warmer skin tone too. It’s a very fun, feminine, spring shade and reminds me of pastel colored Easter eggs. The formula is a cream with opaque coverage. It covers beautifully in two coats, some may even be able to get away with one. This is one polish I like to mix with others. It looks great with two of the other Sweetie Shop polishes, Jasper, a pale yellow cream and Fiver, a pretty mint green. For this post however, I stuck to all Molly all the time.
Nail Color is the easiest way to adopt the Radiant Orchid trend: it’s inexpensive, quick to apply and can be changed at any time. Wonder what Molly Coddled means? It is an old fashioned word used both here and in the UK and means a mother’s act of coddling, sheltering and over protecting her child–these days we would probably say ” a helicopter mom.”
