Exciting news beauties! A brand new website called www.mymakeupcrush.com is bringing British and Australian makeup brands across the pond to us Yanks! My Makeup Crush is owned by the parent company Crush Cosmetics (based in Australia www.crushcosmetics.com.au). Crush Cosmetics is one of Australia’s largest online retailer of international makeup brands. The goal is to feature makeup brands that for the most part were not previously available in the US. My makeup dream of having BECCA readily available may soon be a reality! Oh joy and praise to the makeup Gods and My Makeup Crush!!!
Even better is that My Makeup Crush has a warehouse here in the US which means that you’ll pay normal US shipping rates (all orders over $50 get free ground shipping) and have you’ll have your package quickly with no customs bruha-ha.
The first brand to make it’s debut on the website is UK brand “Barry M”, new to me but an established brand in Europe, recently celebrating it’s 30th anniversary! In the next couple of months, more brands will be added and the product line will expand steadily over the next two years.
My Makeup Crush sent me a nice variety of Barry M products to try–Barry M Dazzle Dust Eye shadows in , a Nail Paint in a shade of…..wait for it….CORAL and a Lip Gloss Wand.
The Dazzle Dust shadows are loose pigments which I am normally not fond of–too messy and more often than not, too glittery. I was sure I would not like these shadows and then I would be in a pickle and would have to give them a less than favorable review. Mr. Barry M Sir, I think you have changed my stubborn, obstinate, pig-headed mind about loose eye shadows–congratulations for a fete never before accomplished!!
Dazzle Dust eye shadows are very finely milled so no chunks of glitter and miraculously no fallout. Score! They apply beautifully but the very best thing about them is the color–they are all very complex duo-chrome shades. I wore #39, Tan today and I originally thought it was a beige champagne color but at my first bathroom break I noticed it looked more pink so I asked my co-worker. Don’t worry she’s used to me constantly asking her if my eye shadow is one particular shade of (fill in the blank) or my foundation is too: pale, cakey, orange, yellow, pink, streaky or my mascara makes my lashes: thick, full, long, clumpy, spiky etc. Yes, I do drive her crazy but I also give her free makeup so she puts up with me Anywho, when I asked said co-worker what color my eye shadow was she said, “a mauvy, pinky, peachy, salmon.” How THAT for complex huh? I did have on a fuchsia top so that could have skewed the color a bit too. As the McDonalds commercial says–I’m Lovin’ It. I also tried #55 fig, a burgundy brown shade that doesn’t really work for me but is beautiful just the same. Dazzle Dust Eye Shadows retail for £4.49 which equates to about $7.
Available in 14 shades ranging from shimmering to opaque. Barry M Lip Gloss Wands are very light, moisturizing, non-sticky and are super comfortable to wear. The lasting power could use improvement but I have found that to be common in non-sticky glosses. #2 Toffee is a pinked brown with a wee bit of shimmer. Toffee is great is for an everyday casual nude lip look. If you are sensitive to fragrance, you may wnat to skip this gloss- it has a strong scent of vanilla cake batter–heavy on the batter. I don’t know but something very sweet. Barry M Lip Gloss Wands retail for £4.49 or about $7 each.
Barry M Cosmetics has some very nice products at ridiculously reasonable prices, make sure to check out www.mymakeupcrush.com and see for yourself! PinkSith has some great reviews of the Dazzle Dust Eye Shadows, some lipsticks and of course a Barry M a purple nail polish
