A few months ago in my mailbox I received an email from bareMinerals about their new LIMITED EDITION spring collection True Romantic. Being a true romantic myself, I wanted to see the collection in person. It has taken me this long to find it! I found one of the pieces online at Ulta, so I went to my local Ulta store THREE times before someone finally did not look at me like I had two heads! Lo and behold, the kindly sales associate found three of the the six pieces in the collection stuffed in a drawer!! No testers, no display–in a drawer! Shame on you Ulta! I’m just lucky that after three tries, I finally found someone who had an inkling of what I was talking about! Frustration aside, the collection includes:
- bareMinerals Limited Edition READY Eyeshadow 4.0 True Romantic ($30) – Unabashedly enchanting and fiercely feminine, these limited-edition hues blend and layer for countless lovely looks.
- bareMinerals Swoon Blush ($19) – petal pink satin
- bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Feel the Love ($18) – caramel rose pink
- bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss in Heartbreaker ($18) – peony pink
- bareMinerals Lasting Line Long-wearing eyeliner in Always Charcoal ($16) – soft grey
- bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipliner in Just Once ($15) – Blushing Almond
Like I said, my lame Ulta only had three of the six pieces so I bought them all: True Romantic READY 4.0 Eyeshadow Palette, Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Feel the Love and Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss in Heartbreaker. After I got them home, I kind of started wondering what I had been so obsessed about. The eyeshadow palette looked pretty average as did the lip products. Ah, but listen to me grasshopper–the magic happens upon application!
- Love It (light mint shimmer)
- Woo Is Me (apricot pink sheen duochrome)
- Louder (burnished metallic copper)
- Head Over Heels (warm matte slate)
L to R: Love It, Woo Is Me, Louder & Head Over Heels.
These shade descriptions are spot on. I’ll admit I didn’t see them working well together but they portray that soft, feminine, romantic spring look wonderfully. Love It is an icy mint shade with subtle glitter–yes I said glitter. It’s the only shade I’m not crazy about and it did have some slight fallout, I don’t see myself wearing this shade often. Woo Is Me is a gorgeous apricot with a pink and gold duochrome effect–it looks striking on the eyelid and gives that nude look a glowy upgrade. Louder is a warm peachy copper. I like to use these types of shades in my crease to highlight my blue eyes, but it can easily be worn on the lid too. I didn’t think I would like Head Over Heels at all, but it’s great for us over 40 gals that don’t want to wear deep shades to accentuate wrinkles and crepeiness. It is a brown/grey that works beautifully as a soft liner or crease shade.
Here is am wearing Love It on the brow bone, Woo Is Me on the lid, Louder in the crease and Head Over Heels as a liner.
The texture as with all bareMinerals READY eyeshadows is exceptionally creamy and silky. They are easy to blend, easy to apply and easy to wear!
I’m really loving this palette and the way the shades work together to create a pretty “neutrals with a kick”, soft romantic look.
Caramel Rose Pink is a very appropriate description for the bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Feel the Love, a rosy pink with a definite brown undertone that gives it a deeper tone than you would expect for spring and a richness. The Marvelous Moxie formula is fabulous: it provides creamy, lightweight coverage with excellent pigmentation with a buttery texture. This one has the minty scent of the Marvelous Moxie lipglosses but not the tingling or the flavor.
bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss in Heartbreaker ($18) is a lovely peony pink cream with subtle gold shimmer. One coat will give you sheer coverage while two builds up the color nicely. When worn over Feel The Love Lipstick, it brings out the pink in the lipstick and tends to cancel out the brown undertone. It has the traditional minty scent and tingle. I like that it is very pigmented but can be worn sheer too. It’s a really great shade for spring!
L to R: Feel The Love lipstick, Heartbreaker lipgloss, the two layered
Packaging is a beautiful rose gold compact and the fab slide tube lipstick. They do collect fingerprints but I don’t care!
Bottom Line: bareMinerals True Romantic 2014 Spring Collection has me trying to rush spring to the Pacific Northwest! It’s a fresh, pretty romantic look that anyone can wear and I highly recommend it! Get thyself to your local Ulta and MAKE them check their drawers for this collection and don’t forget it’s limited edition!!
