As an over a *ahem* more mature woman, you will not a lot of bright eye shadow in my makeup collection. Colbalt, Yellow, Fucshia; these shades are reserved for the younger generation in my opinion. That doesn’t mean however, that I have to look boring or sacrifice embracing the trends. I just do it in a more subtle way these days. The best way to spice my makeup wardrobe up is with colored eye liners. Every color of the rainbow is represented but today I’m going to talk about my favorite green eye liners.
Green is a universally flattering color. On brown and hazel eyes there is sometimes gold or green flecks and green eye liner compliments them beautifully. Green eyeliner, especially teal on blue eyes will intensify the blue color.
My favorites green eye liners include the following:
Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Moray ($20)- a shimmery olive green that looks beautiful with brown eyes or brown shadows. It can also bring out green hues in blue eyes. Smudge sticks are waterproof and last until you take them off.
bareMinerals Big & Bright Eyeliner in Oz – a smooth, creamy jade green. I got this with the I Wish You Love and Happiness Kit last year and loved it so much I’ve tried to use it sparingly. I believe the Big & Bright eyeliners have been replaced with Round the Clock Waterproof Eyeliners.
Laura Mercier Antique Jade Kohl Eye Pencil ($20)- contrary to the name, this kohl pencil has a deep black base with a fern green hue and a lovely delicate shimmer. The kohl pencils are soft, creamy and glide easily on the eye lid. They are specifically meant to be smudged for a smoky sultry look.
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Shadow Pencil in Clinic ($20) – this is actually an eye shadow but I wear it as a liner. Clinic is an emerald green with silver sparkle–and I do mean sparkle, not shimmer. There is some chunky glitter in here beauties, but I like it for a dramatic look and I ALWAYS get compliments when I wear it. This looks much more teal on me than emerald and REALLY brings out my eyes. I like wearing Clinic with a pretty pale taupe eye shadow to brighten up the look.
Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Eyeliner in Deep Teal ($18) – Tarte’s star ingredient, Amazonian clay gives these liners their intense pigment. This gorgeous rich, lush matte teal makes eyes stand out and works beautifully on the waterline. A wonderful alternative to gel liners.
Laura Mercier Kohl Eye Pencil in Black Turquoise ($20) – Much deeper than Antique Jade, Black Turquoise is a beautiful metallic teal (not turquoise) with a black base. Kohl liners are much softer than most eye liners making them ideal for smudging. This shade is a great alternative to harsh black liner for us over 40′s! This was my first teal liner and I’m on my third one!
Have you tried any green eye liners? What are your favorites? Do tell!
