5 Beauty Products I’m Loving Right Now
September Edition

Wow beauties, the last few months have been jam packed with new and glorious discoveries! Here a few real standouts:

Laura Geller Real Deal Concealer–A heavy duty concealer without the heavy duty look. This gets rave reviews on QVC so I wanted to give it a try myself. Good news, it’s really as great as the hype! The trick to this concealer is to use a teeny tiny bit and blend. If you use too much it will look cakey and dry. The Real Deal works on all areas of the face, under eyes as well as some redness I have around the nose and on the chin. It lasts an incredible amount of time, a good 14+ hours. If you order this, be aware that it will be packaged in a small tube–it’s okay, you use so little product, it will still last a good long time.

The Lipstick Queen Jean Queen Set–A lesson I learned this month–trust your friends. Elvira from PinkSith said I needed this and I kinda believed her but not entirely. I went ahead and purchased this set from QVC on her recommendation and because it was so cheap–$22.80 for the set. I will never doubt you again E. I love this set! I was taken aback at how lovely the shade is; it brightens my face beautifully without being obnoxious. On me, the color is practically the polar opposite of the MLBB (my lips but better) shade on Elvira, but I still love it and am so glad I purchased it. The lipstick is sheer, but still has a good amount of pigment and is uber moisturizing like all Poppy King’s lipsticks. The gloss is the exact same shade so you can layer with the lipstick to add an extra bit of shine or wear each solo. A true neutral pink, I really think Jean Queen flatters all skintones and brings a lovely brightness to the face.  The shade is very similiar to Chanel Rouge Allure in Rose Blossom, a limited edition from Summer of 2007 that I get compliments on every time I wear it. The advertising for the Jean Queen set is compelling, although with 4,392 lipsticks and glosses, I don’t think I’ll have any trouble finding something to wear with my jeans. If you’re looking for the ideal neutral pink moisturizing lipstick and gloss, Poppy’s got you covered.

Boscia Daily Hand Revival Therapy SPF 15-my hands have betrayed me by showing their age. They are always dry and have awful looking sun damage. I’ve been using this hand cream all summer and loving it. Working at a college I’m constantly around people who come to school/work sick, so I wash my hands a lot and need to apply hand lotion often. I don’t like my fingers slipping and sliding on my keyboard so I want a hand lotion that really absorbs and Boscia Daily Hand Revival does. I’m grateful that Boscia added an SPF of 15; I don’t have to remember to apply a separate sunscreen to my hands. It has a slightlu unpleasant smell, but it disappites quickly. My hands are not oily or greasy but soft and nicely moisturized. A bit pricy at $16 but a great find.

Trish McEvoy Beauty Booster SPF 15 Lip Gloss in Sexy Nude-I got this with a petite planner set. The gloss has an SPF of 15, and the “beauty booster” really means “lip plumping”–it has a peppermint flavor and scent. It does have a slight tingling feeling but I didn’t notice any significant plumping. What I like most about this gloss is the color; a shimmery peach nude. On the Trish McEvoy website, this gloss is described as “complexion-enhancing” and I would have to agree. I have a lot of difficulty with nude shades, most of them make me look like a member of Edward Cullen’s family in dire need of a refill, however Sexy Nude is very pretty. It does double duty because it makes an outstanding top coat to any lipstick. I especially like it on top of Edward Bess Forbidden Flower. And, hey, I’ll admit I like the name too!

OPI Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous–from the SwissFall  2010 Collection, this picture doesn’t do it justice. It is a glittery gorgeous pewter color. I’m told this is a foil and the application is flawless (I’m a nail polish newbie). What I like about this polish is the color of course, perfect for fall and winter and the polish looks glittery but it applies smooth; I can’t stand the matte polishes or anything that feels gritty. Buy this beauties, you will not be disappointed!  Check my friend Scrangie’s blog for swatches and more info.

  1. Cindy,
What shade do you wear in the Laura Gellar concealer? I think we might wear the same shade. I enjoyed your reviews. Cool stuff.
