Last week a reader emailed to ask a question about brows. She had to have stitches above her eye and wanted to know what product/products to use to simulate brow hair and instructions on how to achieve a natural look. My answer is coming up, but that question gave me the idea for this post…beauty problem solvers. First up, let’s talk about those brows!

IT Cosmetics Brow Power™ Universal Eyebrow Pencil ($24) - I have used nothing else for my brows since I discovered this product last year. This is a wonderful solution to a real problem. As we get older, our brows as well as our lashes get thinner–doesn’t everything except our behinds? Anyway, your brows really do make a difference and can frame your eyes beautifully. I like Brow PowerTMfor several reasons–the packaging is both cute and functional–it has a spoolie on one end to tame those wild hairs and a universal shade of brow marker on the other. It’s very much like a Magic Marker; you simply apply light strokes for lighter hair and press harder for darker hair. The tip is oval shaped making it easy to ‘draw’ in hairs. The formula is long wearing, waterproof and smudge resistant. It also has anti-aging ingredients to restore brow hair follicles and promote growth. Yay! Finally, another reason to love IT Cosmetics and Brow PowerTM, is that for every Brow PowerTM sold, IT CosmeticsTM donates one Brow PowerTM pencil to the American Cancer Society’s Look Good, Feel Better program to help women face the effects of cancer with confidence. What could be better than that? I am so touched by this! Oh, and there is an instructional video on the IT Cosmetics website!
Sally Hansen Invisible Lip Liner ($6)- I don’t use regular lip colored lip liners, I can’t be bothered trying to match them to my lipstick and I’m a cheapie so I don’t buy into the liner/lipstick/gloss lip look. Having to use three products can cost $60! I do, however, have a problem with feathering and darker lipsticks. This fall I’ve enjoyed wearing plums, berries and reds thanks to Sally Hansen’s Invisible Lip Liner. It’s a clear liner that keeps your lipstick in place all day. Even if the lipstick wears off, the liner stays in place–no flaking, bleeding,–it’s the Energizer Bunny of lip liners. There is no waxy feeling, it very soft and doesn’t skip. Others I tried–I’m looking at you Benefit–are so chubby they don’t really allow for a precise line. I can buy 3 of these for the price of one Cargo or Benefit liner. Win!
Tarte Picture Perfect Duo ($15)- C’mon how cute is this set? An ergonomically designed eyelash curler and a deluxe sample of Tarte’s best-selling Lights, Camera, Lashes! natural mascara. I’ve talked droned on several times about how much I like Lights, Camera, Lashes so we’ll concentrate on the eyelash curler. You can easily spend more than this on just the eyelash curler–a la the Shu Uemura 24 carat gold one, but why? This curler does a fab job–part of the appeal is that it’s goof proof. Simply squeeze once, the handles will touch when you have the right amount of pressure and you’re done–no pinching or crimping!
Sigma Beauty #F55 Small Duo Fibre Brush ($14) – My favorite brush of all time! Talk about multi-tasking! Specially designed to generate an ‘airbrushed’ finish when used to apply liquid foundation, it can also be used to apply blush, highlight shades and loose pigments. It’s a blend of synthetic and natural bristles. My blush has NEVER looked so good–natural, perfectly placed and flawless–you don’t even need to blend it. This blush is absoloute perfection for applying cream blushes. Dip into the blush, swirl onto apples of cheeks–it’s that simple and looks amazingly natural and flawless. Sigma makes excellent brushes at reasonable prices–click on the graphic in my sidebar for a special deal for Prime Beauty readers!
IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye ($24) - O-M-G I’m in love with this concealer!! I had my reservations when I squeezed the tube and the consistency was much thicker than I’m used to and even at first application I wasn’t convinced. Then…a miracle happened….in a few short minutes….my under eye area looked…..mah-va-lous!!! It kicks dark circles to the curb, renders lines invisible and praise be to the Lord, reduces puffiness! This is serious stuff; more than just full coverage for under the eyes, the formula was developed, tested and is now used to conceal facial bruising and swelling on the face and body of surgery patients in the offices of some of the leading plastic surgeons in Brazil. Bye Bye Under Eye is waterproof, with high concentrations of Vitamins K, A, C, E and Collagen and absolutely does not budge. Available in 4 shades; Light, Neutral Medium, Tan and Deep–neutral medium was a perfect match for me and 70% of the female population. I don’t only use this concealer under my eyes, but everywhere I have redness and anywhere I need concealer. This is my new HG concealer and I won’t be using anything else. IT Cosmetics has LOTS of problem solvers and I will introduce you to a few others soon!
Sephora Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover ($8.50)- Sephora has come out with their own line of inexpensive skincare. The sales associate at my local Sephora told me that this eye makeup remover was just like the famous Lancome BiFacil so for $8.50 I though I would give it a try. It takes off even stubborn ‘bullet-proof’ makeup without being greasy and hydrates the eye area a bit. While it’s not quite a duplicate for Lancome, it’s pretty awesome for the price–$8.50 v.s. $26. In this economy, I’m looking to save anywhere I can and this is an easy way to save some green.
I pinky swear on Coco Chanel’s grave that I use all these products and they are my Holy Grails. You may want to try a few too!

This is a fabulous post. I also am IN LOVE with the Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer. It does everything it promises! I even know a few people who will use this as a foundation on special occasions when they want to look extra flawless. I really like IT Cosmetics and also am very interested in their “My Sculpted Face Kit” it is supposed to make you look 5-10 pounds lighter.
IT cosmetics has fabulous products! I’ll be reviewing Bye Bye Pores and No More Lid Lines soon! I could definitely stand to lose 10 pounds!
I look forward to hearing more about IT Cosmetics.
Wow! Although that eyelash curler looks like a torture device your post sure was an interesting read
Thank you very much for all those beauty tips.
This is a great post, thank you for the info. I don’t shop around much for makeup stuff, so it is really helpful to me that you have done all the research and I can just go and find these products! Especially the makeup remover, I’ve been using waterproof eye makeup remover pads, but they get expensive, and sometimes dry out in the little tub.
Thank you I went right online and purchased the IT under eye concealer I appreciate your tips and research. Bags have been a lifetime problem and I cannot wait to use this.
I just received my bye bye under eye IT is magic, I can;t imagine ever needing anything else, Thank you so much for these great tips.
I’m so glad you like it as much as me, Maureen! IT cosmetics has some amazing products for us over 40 girls!
I’m really interested in the IT cosmetics line, I’ve been looking at their bye bye pores & the anti aging shadows. Looking forward to hearing more from you on this line!
I’ve yet to try a product from IT Cosmetics that isn’t wonderful. I discovered the concealer about 2 years ago when some people I know raved about it and I’ve been buying and using it ever since. I use Bye Bye Pores almost every day so I can’t wait to read your review on that. Love the eyebrow pencil and I love that they have the program with it. Great review on some great products.
